REALMS OF GOLD

Originally recorded for Japanese label Pony Canyon in
1994 Realms of Gold was released in the UK in 1996. After the electro/folk
experimentation of "Star Juice" (the Dr's short lived two man outfit
with hardcore drummer Benny Staples, ex Woodentops), this was Robert's
first solo release proper.
Critically acclaimed at the time for its rootsy soulfulness,
Realms of Gold contained the radio hit The Coming of Grace.
Collaborators include ex Specials AKA Rhoda Dakar, ex
Young Disciple Marco Nelson and, reciprocating Robert's collaboration
on Wildwood, Paul Weller.
Key tracks include Have No Roots - a 12 string extravaganza
featuring just Robert and Weller, and the captivating Circular Quay.
An abrupt departure from his Blow Monkeys days, this
album established Robert as one of the leading singer/songwriters
of his time - and exposed further his talents as a fine and inventive
guitarist.
